Student Code of Conduct
Students at Playscape are required to comply with the following:
Show respect for teachers, assistants, fellow students, and families.
Respect the belongings of others.
Arrive on time and be prepared to learn.
Follow instructions and comply with teacher expectations of behaviour.
Communicate any serious discomfort or pain to the teacher or assistant.
Attend all classes except in cases of illness. If a student has a short-term mild injury, they are encouraged to come to class and observe.
Show respect for the workshop space by cleaning up after themselves and keeping shared spaces tidy.
Wear the appropriate attire as specified in the Dress Code, including closed-in shoes and a hat.
Students under 18 should not communicate with teachers via social media or personal messaging apps.
If a student's behaviour negatively impacts the well-being, safety, or learning of others, they may be asked to sit and watch or leave the space under supervision until they are calm and focused.
Consistently disruptive behaviour that prevents the teacher from delivering the class may result in the student being unenrolled. Refunds will not be provided to the extent permitted by law.
Students must not bring or use mobile phones, smartwatches, or other personal electronic devices during sessions, unless explicitly approved by staff.
Parent/Guardian Code of Conduct
Parents and guardians at Playscape are required to:
Show respect for teachers, students, staff, and other parents/guardians at all times.
Stay informed by reading all email updates and newsletters.
Ensure that children (including siblings and friends) are supervised in waiting areas.
Arrive with students five minutes before class and pick them up promptly after class.
Take responsibility for their children until the scheduled class start time.
Meet all payment deadlines.
Refrain from taking photographs or videos without permission from the teacher (see Privacy Policy).
Use only official Playscape communication channels (email and business phones) for inquiries and concerns.
Avoid direct communication with Playscape staff via private email, text, phone, or social media.
Maintain a clean and quiet waiting area.
Encourage students to be committed, positive, and work to the best of their ability.
Raise concerns with a teacher or staff member via email.
Serious breaches of this code, including behaviour that impacts safety and wellbeing, may result in a warning or the unenrollment of the child. Refunds will not be provided to the extent permitted by law.
Teacher Code of Conduct
Teachers at Playscape must:
Treat students, families, and colleagues with respect.
Follow Playscape’s Child Safety Policy and Code of Conduct.
Hold current First Aid and CPR certification.
Possess a valid Working with Children Check (WWCC).
Review student medical conditions or special requirements before class.
Provide a warm, supportive, and safe learning environment.
Adapt to and accommodate students with special requirements.
Actively manage challenging behaviours and prevent bullying.
Implement a clear, supportive approach to behaviour management that reinforces positive participation.
Use redirection, encouragement, and structured expectations to guide student conduct.
Respond professionally to concerns and keep the Directors informed of any verbal or written family correspondence.
Ensure that no discrimination occurs based on culture, race, ethnicity, religion, disability, gender identity, or sexual orientation.
Actively create an inclusive space where students of all backgrounds, abilities, and identities feel welcome.
Never put children at risk of abuse or ignore/disregard any suspected child abuse (see Child Safety Policy).
Avoid inappropriate language, music, or discussions of an adult nature in class.
Any digital communication regarding classes should occur via official Playscape platforms.
Never perform personal care tasks that a child can manage independently.
Follow OH&S policies and ensure students do not attempt activities they are not physically prepared for.
Document and report all incidents or injuries promptly.
Attend staff meetings (minimum once per term) and professional development sessions.
Refrain from social media contact with current students under 18.
Wear clean and appropriate attire for the style of drama being taught.
Make sure students do not leave the premises without a designated parent/guardian.
Be up to date with emergency evacuation drills for the location.
Ensure all staff are familiar with emergency procedures and contacts.
Failure to comply with this code may result in warnings or termination of employment.
Ensure gender-neutral language and inclusive practices in teaching.
Provide resources and strategies to support students experiencing anxiety or stress in class.
Financial Policy
If a teacher is absent and a replacement is unavailable, a credit will be issued for the canceled class.
Student Change of Mind
Enrollments can be cancelled within 24 hours of registration.
Once the term has commenced, we are unable to provide refunds, as class schedules, venues, and teachers are finalised.
Missed Classes
We are unable to provide refunds or credits for missed classes.
Trial Classes
Trial classes are available for new students in classes that are not full.
Bookings are essential and can be made by contacting Playscape directly
The trial class fee is free. If you choose to enrol, the remainder of the term will be invoiced, and payment will be due before the next class.
Statement of Commitment to Child Safety
Playscape is committed to ensuring child safety. We strive to create a safe, happy, and empowering environment for all children, staff, and volunteers. We uphold zero tolerance for child abuse and report any concerns to the appropriate authorities. Our organisation actively educates staff and members about child safety risks, prioritising the wellbeing of all children, including those from Aboriginal, culturally diverse, and disabled communities.
